Additive to increase production rate (Line speed) in FR/FRLS cable manufacturing

CableAid™ FR has proved very beneficial particularly in FRLS/FR cables. It has become part of standard formulation of some of the leading manufacturers of FRLS / FR cables for increasing production (Line speed) and surface finish.
Product Description

With increasing competitive pressures, it is very important for the processors to make the optimum use of the installed machinery and have improved quality of product. Thus if one can increase productivity and quality by producing more per hour, cost per unit of material produced would reduce.

Intermolecular friction and volatiles in compounds are major causes of poor productivity and quality. Molecular entanglements and vapour reduce flow of material. Thus, higher machine load and electric load needs to be applied for making the material flow.

Some additives in FRLS/FR PVC compounds like calcium carbonate and aluminium trihydrate, they reduce the surface finish of the product and also reduce the flow.

CableAid™ FR is specially designed for processing of vinyl compounds in cable applications. It reduces the molecular friction by modifying melt viscosity of the polymer melt during processing. It also streamlines flow of material in the barrel leading to improved rheology. It had been found that surface finish of the product also improves.

It has been found that addition of just 2 -3% (of the compound weight) of CableAid™ FR leads to an increase in output (Line Speed) of 10% to 20% and reduces the machine load and power consumption. All surface defects are eliminated and surface finish of the product improves appreciably.

CableAid™ FR reduces the viscosity of PVC resin which increases fusion among different constituents in the vinyl formulations. This leads to better flow and reduced intermolecular friction during processing. This also leads to improved wetting of fillers and other additives. Improved flow also means that surface defects caused due to the above are eliminated and there is an improvement in the surface finish.
