Plastic Recycling the new focus of society and industry.

Recyclable plastic scrap comes from two sources: domestic or post user and industrial scrap. The ubiquitous use and throw plastic carry bags form a major percentage of domestic scrap. 

However, recycling domestic scrap is quite a challenge in itself. In order to successfully recycle such scrap, a recycler usually takes a few pre-processing steps such as washing the scrap and shredding it down to a more uniform size.

Recycling plastic bags and wraps is very useful because this valuable material can be made into dozens of new products such as low-maintenance fencing and decking, building and construction products, shopping carts or even new bags.

The washed and shredded scrap is then extruded and cut into pellets of recycled plastic which are reused for making useful products.

However, the process of recycling reduces the quality of the polymer.

The recycled plastics have inferior physical properties such as strength, compared to the virgin plastics, as the polymers from two different sources do not meld with each other easily even if they are of the same plastic.

Also, the recyclers face problems due to moisture present in the scrap. Moisture creates surface defects, which reduce the aesthetics of the end products, reducing their value.

Generally, the recyclers use desiccants and/or dispersing agents to correct these problems, either while recycling scrap or while making products from pellets.

However, the industry is fast moving towards specialised plastic additives to resolve these problems.

High quality additives like Vin Industries' RecycloAid, ChamakShakti, Strength-X etc. allow the plastic processors to improve their recycling process by not only speeding up the process but also by enhancing the quality of the end product.
